5 Reel Drive

5 Reel Drive is a well-known Microgaming developed UK slot game and one which was later turned into a Mega Moolah progressive jackpot title. The original game is non-progressive, though it can still deliver a tasty jackpot prize worth around 10,000 coins. The basic premise of this slot’s theme is one of highway restaurants and diners. Original is indeed one way to describe 5 Reel Drive. Few other slots on the net have a theme quite like it.

Symbols which feature on the reels of this fast food-themed slot include various cars, burning tires, dice, hamburgers, fries, soda, pie, coffee and doughnuts. The staple of every long-distance trucker’s diet to be sure. Players shouldn’t expect too much out of this game. There are 5 reels (as the title implies) and 9 paylines spread over those reels. None of the reels are adjustable, so players are going to find wagering limits which rise from 9p per spin to £90 a game here. Despite its age, 5 Reel Drive has a decent RTP (return to player) rate which reaches up to 96.35%, well above the industry standard for simple little slots such as this.

Special Features

Road signs make up fitting wild symbols in this slot release. There aren’t too many special features for players to get to grips with, so wilds come much appreciated. These symbols can substitute for any others save for police cars. There is nothing overly impressive about wilds in this game. They are replacement icons and nothing more.

Scatter symbols show up as police squad cars, and they will count no matter where they fall on the reels of the game. Prizes paid out via these symbols are decent, but they aren’t the best-paying icons to appear in the 5 Reel Drive slot game.

That honour goes to the flaming tire symbols. These icons can dish out the aforementioned non-progressive jackpot prize of 10,000 coins, should 5 of them appear on any payline in the game. Admittedly, there are only a handful of lines featured in this release, so that is made a touch harder than you might typically expect from a Microgaming slot.

Bonus Features

Despite being a video slot, there are no special features for players to enjoy in this game. Wilds and scatters are about all a player is going to get. As mentioned, there is a progressive jackpot version of this game (Mega Moolah: 5 Reel Drive), and that can see players potentially win millions of pounds via a randomly triggered bonus round. This original edition has no such features, though, so it is bland and beige.

Overview

Any player who fancies a trip down memory lane to the older days of playing casino games may very well appreciate what this slot can offer. However, any experienced slot player who likes a raft of special features (as commonly found in Microgaming slots) is understandably going to be somewhat disappointing with what is available in the 5 Reel Drive slot game.
