Sahara Nights

Sahara Nights

Sahara Nights is Yggdrasil Gaming’s take on the ever-popular Arabian Nights tale. Hot on the heels of the successful Aladdin live-action film from Disney, the Sahara Nights slot was launched. Yggdrasil aimed to capitalise on its success. For its part, Sahara Nights offers a new and visually impressive take on what is an often-over-produced online slot theme.

The slot machine game features clean and crisp 3D graphics, just as you would expect. There is also a basic wagering range found in the game, and that should suffice most players’ needs. Players can Sahara Nights to deliver twenty paylines over five reels. A spin on the game will set players back at least 20p a turn, but certainly no more than £100 a pop. Prizes are fair in this low/medium variance release. They are non-progressive and capped at around 250x a total bet. Sahara Nights has a return to player rate of 96.2%, which is certainly above the industry standard we would expect to find in such a mobile-friendly game.

Special Features

This slot is not without its challengers. There are many top titles in the Aladdin/Arabian Nights genre, so Sahara Nights is going to have to produce something special with its features to stand out. As you might expect, the genie’s lamp is a pretty prominent icon in the game. It appears as a wild symbol and can substitute for all standard paying icons. However, it only appears on the second, third and fourth reels. Wilds can also play a part in triggering the Genie Wilds feature, which is essentially an expanding wild mode.

A free spin bonus round has been worked into the slot, too. To trigger that feature, players are going to need to land between three and five of the game’s storybook symbols on the reels. This will offer you the free spin bonus you seek, but also scattered cash prizes which could be worth up to 1,000x a bet in all.

Bonus Features

Once the free spin bonus begins, players will be handed a total of 8, 12 or 16 free spins. The number they get depends on whether they launched the feature with three, four or all five of the slot’s scatter icons. Wild symbols can again only appear on the three central reels, but this time they will expand and will remain sticky for the entirety of this bonus round. Players who manage to lock out all three of the central reels with wilds will pocket an additional two free games. However, between 2 and 16 further spins can be won when scatters appear on the reels.

Sahara Nights has its moments and is certainly not a bad effort from Yggdrasil Gaming. Nor is it a particularly shabby take on the Arabian Nights genre. Instead, it is a welcome release and one which can provide a bundle of excitement, especially for players who love wild symbol action. There are better UK slots out there with this theme, but Sahara Nights is also a game well worth a punt.
